We’re Brandon and Leabeth Pohl, and The Sand Place began with one simple childhood joy we both shared: playing for hours in the soft Florida beach sand. When life brought us to Colorado and we became parents ourselves, we quickly learned that “beach days” here looked a little different. The rocks and clay didn’t offer the same enjoyment we felt as kids. I mean, who wants to wears shoes on a beach!

Like many families, we spent months working from home during COVID, navigating uncertainty and a six‑month period of unemployment. In the middle of all that change, we found ourselves dreaming about creating something that truly mattered to families like ours. Something playful and joyous. Something to bring a little bit of light into the world. Something for parents to get that much needed vacation.

Inspired by indoor play centers we admired and shaped by our own experiences as parents, we built a space where children could explore freely while parents could relax, connect, or get a bit of work done nearby. The Sand Place grew from our family’s story, and we’re grateful to share it with yours.
