What Is the Summer Play Pass?

The Summer Play Pass is a seasonal, three-month pass that gives your child unlimited all-day play at The Sand Place during all of our operating hours. Instead of paying per visit or watching the clock, you pay once and come back as often as you like through the summer. For families who already know their kids could happily dig and build every single day, it is the simplest way to say yes more often.

Here in Aurora, summer can be a strange mix of long, open days and the kind of heat and afternoon storms that make outdoor plans feel like a gamble. The Summer Play Pass was designed for exactly that. We are a climate-controlled indoor sand playground, so a 95-degree afternoon or a sudden hailstorm does not end your day. It just sends you to a cooler, calmer place to play.

Who the pass is for

The pass is built for kids ages 0-12, with most of the magic landing for the 0-7 crowd. If you have a toddler who needs to move, a preschooler who wants to be a construction worker, or a kindergartner burning off summer energy, this is your spot. Adults always play free at The Sand Place, and infants under 12 months are free too, so the pass covers one child while the whole family comes along.

How Much Does It Cost?

There are two ways to get the Summer Play Pass, and both unlock the same unlimited all-day play. The first is a 3-Month Plan at $45 per month, billed monthly, which you can set up online or in-store. The second is a Pay Upfront option at $130 one-time, available in-store only, which includes a Summer Goodie Bag as a thank-you for committing to a full season of play.

How the math works

Our regular admission is $20 all-day for your first child, $18 for a sibling, and $16 for a third sibling or more. At $45 a month, the pass pays for itself in just over two visits per month. If your family comes even once a week, you are well ahead. Choosing the $130 upfront option saves you a little more across the season and tosses in the Summer Goodie Bag on top.

One important note for planning: the Summer Play Pass excludes birthday discounts and the standard membership perks. It is a pure, unlimited-play product. If you want year-round perks like $25-$50 off parties and unlimited 90-minute sessions, our regular membership at $60 per month may be the better long-term fit. Is the Summer Play Pass Worth It for My Family?

For most local families who visit regularly, the answer is a clear yes. The Summer Play Pass turns play into something you never have to budget for visit by visit. Once you have it, a rough morning, a rained-out park trip, or a long afternoon with nothing planned all have the same easy answer: grab shoes, head to the sandbox.

We see this play out with families from all over the south metro. Parents drive in from Parker, Centennial, and Highlands Ranch, often on the days when the kids have already declared they are bored by 9 a.m. The pass removes the little hesitation of "is it worth the admission today?" and replaces it with permission to just go.

The screen-time relief

Summer is when screen time quietly creeps up. It is hot, the days are long, and a tablet is an easy peace offering. The American Academy of Pediatrics, through its parent resource HealthyChildren.org, encourages plenty of unstructured, hands-on play to balance screens, especially over the summer. Open-ended sand play is about as hands-on as it gets. There is no winning or losing, no battery, and no right way to build a tunnel.

What a Summer Morning Looks Like

Picture a Tuesday in July. You walk in, kids kick off their shoes at the entrance, and within seconds they are barefoot in 40 tons of soft, silica-free sand. There are 100-plus trucks and tools waiting, from dump trucks and excavators to kid-sized ride-on diggers, and a 30-by-15-foot main sandbox to claim.

While the kids haul and scoop, you settle into the parent seating area with a coffee and free Wi-Fi, watching from cafe tables that overlook the whole sandbox. Nobody is rushing. With the Summer Play Pass, there is no session timer counting down, so if your kid finally builds the perfect road system at minute 80, they get to keep going.

When we are open

We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are closed on Mondays. Weekday mornings tend to be calmer and are a favorite for toddlers, while weekends bring a bit more buzz and longer hours for the bigger kids.

Getting started is easy. The $45 monthly plan can be set up online or in-store, and the $130 upfront pass is available in-store only so we can hand you that Summer Goodie Bag in person.
