Our Story: Why We Built an Indoor Playground for Toddlers
We’re Brandon and Leabeth Pohl, and our journey started with a simple memory: playing in soft Florida beach sand as kids. When we moved to Colorado and had children of our own, we realized the local “beaches” were mostly rock and clay. We missed the joy of sand play—and so did our kids.
After months of working from home during COVID and facing a six-month stretch of unemployment, we decided to build something meaningful. Inspired by other indoor play centers, we created a parent-friendly play center where children could explore and parents could relax or work nearby.
Why Sand Play Matters
Sand is more than fun—it’s developmental gold. Our sensory-friendly playground engages the tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive senses, helping toddlers build motor skills, balance, and emotional regulation. Unlike fixed equipment, sand is open-ended: a castle, a mountain, a road—whatever your child imagines.
